Golden Ox in Bakersfield

I’ve been coming here for about five years now. The food here has always been very delicious and made when you order not sitting on a counter or refrigerator for who knows how long. You can have a variety of foods such as: Hamburgers, chili fires, Mexican food (Nachos are bomb), breakfast I mean very good and very good prices. I recommend

Been coming here since I was 10 (16 years ago) Always have to come here when I visit from Houston. The burgers are always awesome and consistent! The fries are cooked perfectly and also have the best seasoning! The owners are awesome people as well as the staff! This burger will always be in my #1 top burgers! I wish they had one in Houston TX!

Very delicious breakfast and there was no wait got in and got the food like in 10 mins beats dennys country gravy and IHOP on valentine's day :)

My family has been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years. My mother and her husband went 2-3 times a week. After he passed she still continued to go at least 2-3 times a month. Today my mother found a hair in her food, she spoke to two people about it. The first girl was newer and just threw the bowl of fruit away. The other person she talked to had been there for years and offered her a refund only to come back and say she could not refund it because the first girl lied and said that my mother had eaten almost all of it. The fruit was still piled above the top of the bowl. So, because their employee chose to lie, and they chose to believe that lie over a customer that has never complained or sent something back in the 25+ years she has gone their regularly, they just lost my familys business. It may seem small, but if they continue doing this to others they will lose more customers. I hope they catch the girl in a lie before she causes a lot of harm to their business.

Every time I am in Bakersfield I have to eat here. My personal favorites are their pastrami sandwich & the chili cheese fries. But everything on the menu is super delicious. Family owned, friendly service, and clean restaurant. It is a gem!

It had been many years since I visited the Golden Ox at this location. And I was not disappointed by returning. Ordered the Colossal combo and a side of fried mushrooms. Portions are very big enough to feed two people with one order. The restaurant was kept very clean service was great.

Im so disappointed me and my fiancé order our favorite burgers and asked for large drinks the lady gave us small I told nicely we ordered large she said well I have to charge you I asked her what’s your name her name was Carmen I asked for the manager he didn’t help he charge us for the drinks We are very angry I’m never coming back here again terrible customer service they need to start listening to the customers 😡

Pretty good service,just got a small mistake on my order,but other than that it was pretty good. I do have to say though they charge extra for a lot of things.

My family has eaten at the Golden Ox for years. Now my kids are all grown and they still go there to eat. It's great food, and we trust it to be good Everytime we visit there

Great seating, clean friendly and great prices. No toothpicks. I did get super sick afterwards but I think I caught airborne virus, not Food poison. The food seemed fresh and my daughter did not get sick.

Been eating here since a little kid, hope this place is always around. I always get the ox plate and it's never disappointed :D remember when it was 6 $ Or so years ago now it's over 11$, times have changed but the quality and feel of the place hasn't. The fries are great and always get a side of ranch with them. And a really big menu.EnjoyEdit : 6-28-2020Covid restriction still but they are accepting dine in and every other table is restricted. The food is good as always but you have to make sure to ask for any condiments as there are none on the tables, including napkins and ketchup. Overall though a very pleasant trip to one of my favorite food places;) see pictures for the ox plate I always get 2-21-18: they accept KVC discount card here for 10% Got the ox plate and split it and they served us all nice like and even took our plates when done. Great service and even better price with the discount.

Been going to this place since 1995. Used to be good. Ever since new owners took over it has gotten worst every year and the prices have really increased. Today I decided even if I am desperate because of the convenience, I will never go there again. I ordered 3 cheese burgers and 3 fries with a charge of $24 through the drive thru did not get my receipt and got home and only 1 buyer was in the bag. Called and said I only paid 13 for 1 burger and 3 fries. Yet I paid $25 and got some coin change back. After 25 year's of going there at least 3 times a month think they would listen to the customer. I stopped eating their food years ago for hair in my eggs, but my husband always orders. I sure hope he doesn't go again. The place is disgusting 😜

I've been a frequent customer for years.. and today they were not willing to wait for my husband to arrive and pay for meal. I agree that Carmen lady has a hideous attitude. Golden ox doesn't know how to take care of there customers. They have just lost another customer. By the way carmen gave me a nick name THE PROBLEN LADY! Whats wrong with requesting your meals to b done correctly not how ever they want them.

Good place to go for breakfast. Food is good, fresh, and fast. Not usually crowded in the mornings for breakfast, which makes it a go to spot.

Food is good ,just not favor of y'all fountain drinks ,area clean ,service is good ,but good will taste lot better with a coca cola ,this is why I don't often go there.

I bought a kids chicken nuggets meal. Horrible. Never again will I buy their nuggets. Fries were on point as usual. Although, when I say extra seasoning, I mean extra. Until mext time Ox!

Has a quaint, diner-type feel. Expansive menu and good food. Although my diet has changed over the years, they always have something I can order. And I always enjoy it.

All my food had a great taste! But I didn't get my sides for my street tacos (oions, salsa).

Really impressed with the amount of food you get for the price. Ordered for 4 and all had leftovers. Tried the pastrami chili fries...Holy smokes! It was awesome. Worth a return visit.

Absolutely won’t go here EVER again. I ordered my wife chili cheese fries and there was long dark hair inside of it. Not just one but multiple pieces of hair. So if you like long black hairs in your food. Go to golden ox on white lane. They got what you need. The manager didn’t even refund my whole order. He only gave me the 5 dollars back for the chili cheese fries. Even though we all threw our food away after my wife choked on hair. 11/15/2019

This use to be one of my favorite places to eat, they have lost sight of good fresh food 😔 this is what fresh fries look like to them..wont be going back anytime soon..

The breakfast is bomb and the prices reasonable and the service was great everyone was very friendly
